Committee-Approved Land Use Plan
The Land Use Plan Steering Committee completed its work at its July 13th, 2009 meeting where the committee finalized and approved the plan. This "committee approved plan" is available below. The plan is still considered a draft. Approval of the County Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners is required before the plan can become the County's official plan.

The Planning Process
The planning process consists of the series of activities that are designed to produce a new land use plan for Carbon County.
The planning process begins an "inventory phase" that concentrates on examining existing conditions and trends in the county. The process then moves on to proposing preliminary "planning goals and strategies". The setting of goals and strategies will define what the plan is seeking to achieve.
Following this, a draft plan will be prepared and presented to the public for review and comment. After any necessary revision, a final plan will be presented to the County Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of County Commissioners for their approval.
