Background Information

On this page, you can find background information related to the Carbon County Land Use Plan.

The first item is a list of questions and answers about county land use planning in Wyoming.  These help explain what a land use plan is and what is it's significance.

In 2007, Carbon County hired the consulting team of Joanne Garnett and Ken Markert to review the present Carbon County Land Use Plan.  The consultants produced a report that examines the present plan and makes recommendations for updating the plan. 

In response to a request from Carbon County, the planning consultants prepared a proposed plan of work and budget for preparing a new land use plan.  The proposal was reviewed and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission.  Subsequently, in November 2007 the Board of County Commissioners approved the proposal and contracted with the consultants to prepare the plan.  The approved proposal, which details the process that will be used to create the plan, is available here:
